About Us
How First Few Chapters began...
First Few Chapters was inspired by my amazement in how much our brains develop in the first years of life.
Every single kit was created after meticulous research, and serves as low-cost, screen-free way to encourage the healthy development of EF skills (such as resilience, memory, impulse control) and more!
About Me
Thank you for taking the time to ready this!
My name is Laura, I am a mom, wife, and educational researcher. I specialize in the neuroscience of learning, particularly in early childhood education. My research lab collaborates with researchers across the country, where we investigate how we can make learning fun and impactful.
Before my career in research, I was an early childhood educator for over 10 years, and a child life specialist for 5+ years at a local children's hospital. It was through these experiences that I learned about the neuroscience behind learning, the impact of brain injuries, mental illness, and how much positive experiences impact young minds. My collegiate coursework and professional work experiences, and having my own child have brought me here. A place where I get to have fun applying neuroscience principles into activity kits to help our little ones thrive.
I truly hope our activity kits allow caregivers, educators, and community members to enjoy watching their little ones play independently, confident that they are building skills that will last them a lifetime.
